What does a girl do when one of her favorite brand comes out with a new product with five stars on sephora?

She goes out, buys it, tries it, and decides to never be out of it anymore! That’s exactly what I did when I heard of the moon juice beauty shroom exfoliating acid potion !

Believe or not I am very protective of my skin. Although I love buying beauty products and use them even more, I am very careful of what to use and what to stay clear of.

That’s why for a long while acids were one of the last thing I have tried as part of my skincare routine.

I originally know moon juice for their delicious recipes loaded with adaptogens and probiotics. Their lucuma and ashwagandha powders are my top favorites.

When I saw they’ve added skincare products to their line, I swear I could hear my bank choking!

I have been using the moon juice beauty shroom exfoliating acid potion( $38) since November last year ( 2018) and I still love it!

Ok, let me tell you a few thing about my skin.

I have oily skin prone to acne with a few discoloration spot when I forget to reapply sunscreen. I tend to get a couple of cystic acne here and there around my period when I neglect my diet.

Well, I expected the moon juice beauty shroom exfoliating acid potion to work with my other skincare products to make it all better.

What does moon juice promise?

They said it’s like skin magic, it’s supposed to brighten, smooth, and restore the skin.

It’s consist of AHA, BHA, glycolic acid, and salicylic acid. All of these ingredients combine are what will encourage natural skin cell turnover, reduce fine lines, and minimize pores.

Here is the ingredients list for you to geek out over:

This product is also vegan-friendly!

There is one thing I wanted to point out about this brand and its products.

They all have some sort of of adaptogen in their formula. Be it ashwagandha, lucuma, and some sort of mushroom. This particular product has Reishi mushroom in it, hence the name Beauty shroom.

What are adaptogens? What does Reishi mushroom do for the skin?

In short, adaptogen are natural substances that help the body to adapt to stress. The widely know adaptogen is Ginseng.

They are unique herbs and plants that support the adrenal system, regulate hormones, and help us deal with stress on a daily basis. Those herbs are called adaptogenic herbs ( adapt)

They recently earn popularity here in the US but have always been a part of
traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine.

Ashwagandha, Cordyceps, and Reishi are all adaptogens.

Reishi mushroom in particular is known for its antioxidants properties. Antioxidants in general have the purpose to prevent cellular damage.

Reishi mushroom slows premature aging but promoting healthy circulation and strengthening the immune system naturally. The takeaway here, adaptogens are great for your body inside and out.

Always consult with your doctor before adding anything new to your health, selfcare routine.

How to apply it?

Well, it is recommended to apply it on clean, dry face with fingertips or a cotton pad.

My results?

I didn’t have “bad skin” to begin with. My skin looks brighter and smoother since I have been using this acid potion. My skin did peel a little the first week I use it. It also sting a little when i apply it at first, but that’s to be expected with any acid. It faded fairly quickly.

I also find it quick moisturizing!

I personally thinks acids are very beneficial for skin if used properly. Keep in mind that sunscreen is always recommended especially when using acids and peels.

Are you in the superfoods and adaptogen beauty trend?
