Three things I learned from eating plant based
Food you eat is very powerful. It can break or make your health! I wasn’t raised eating a plant based diet. I came from a background of on and off vegetarianism because of extreme poverty. Veganism and it’s meaning for me and the environment came to me in my late teen, I only committed to it in my late twenties.
I have learned and changed so much while eating a whole-foods, plant based diet. For the sake of time let’s talk about three of them.
1.Carbs are not the enemies!
Carbs coming from whole foods like fruits, nuts, whole grains are good for you. I personally never gained weight while eating plant based. You need them to fuel your body. Click here to read about 6 reasons you should eat carbs. What you really need to do is ditching the refined crap like sugar, bleached and over processed flour.
2.Ditch the oils or at the least reduce my intake
Oils are refined and highly processed. They lose all of the vitamins and minerals that are good for the body. They are packed with calories and fat which will lead to weight gain.
I know oil make food tastier, it was like a second nature to just reach for it. I am learning to do it less

3.Plant protein are more than enough
I cannot believe I used to be one of those people who ask vegans where they get their protein! I just focus on eating a balanced diet rich in fibre.
Did you know excess protein is stored as fat in the body that later turns into waste?
I found this video about protein very detailed and useful.
How much protein do you really need?
